Explore the famous Fort Kochi, visit the charming hill station of Munnar with its lush green tea hills. Unwind in the quiet Kumarakom and spend a night cruising on a house boat in the calm backwaters lined with palm trees.

Itinerary

After breakfast, your exploration of India's capital city commences with a sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi, taking in the Red Fort, Jama Masjid - India’s oldest and largest mosque and Raj Ghat - the site of Gandhi’s cremation in Old Delhi, and the Rajpath and India Gate in New Delhi. Very early this morning there is the opportunity to sail over the lofty hilltop forts and regal palaces of Jaipur in a hot air balloon. In the morning excursions to Amber Fort with an Elephant ride up the hill and descend by jeep followed with city tour Later we visit a cotton weaving house to see a demonstration of fabric dyeing and block printing before touring the City Palace and Jantar Mantar - an old yet cleverly designed space observatory. Breakfast at hotel then proceed to Bharatpur en route visit to village of Abhaneri to see Chand Baori, which is the largest and deepest step well in the world. This incredible well has a staggering 3500 steps and is 13 stories deep. Later continue drive to Bharatpur and arrival check in at hotel. After freshen up visit Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll enjoy a leisurely bicycle rickshaw ride through the park. Breakfast at hotel, and then proceed to Agra visit Fatehpur Sikri en-route, former imperial capital of the great Mughal emperor Akbar. Built between 1569 and 1585, it has been deserted for more than four centuries, by all accounts abandoned in 1600 due to a meagre supply of water. Later continue drive to Agra and on arrival check-in at hotel. In the afternoon visit the impressive Agra Fort before touring the legendary Taj Mahal and witnessing a glorious golden sunset. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in loving memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz, who tragically died in childbirth in 1631, the Taj Mahal in Agra is described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love and remains one of India’s most enduring symbols. After breakfast at hotel check-out and transfer to the airport to board flight for Kochi and on arrival you'll be transferred to your hotel. Kochi (formerly known as Cochin) offered refuge to Jews more than 2,500 years ago. The Portuguese founded the first European colony in Kochi in the 16th century, then the Dutch quickly followed and eventually, the British. The cosmopolitan mix of cultures makes the city truly fascinating. This evening we watch a Kathakali performance. Kathakali is the fascinating traditional dance form of Kerala. Breakfast at hotel, and then proceed for half day guided tour of historic Fort Kochi. Visit to Chinese fishing nets and explore the winding streets of the old town, visiting St Francis’ Church, Parsi Synagogue (exterior only) and a Dutch palace. Afternoon drive east to Munnar - a picturesque hill station nestled on the verdant slopes of tea plantations. In route you can visit many tea plantation and on arrival check-in at hotel. After breakfast you will proceed to sightseeing tour to the Eravikulam National Park or simply walk through the tea estates. Overnight at Munnar (Breakfast, Dinner)
After breakfast drive to Alleppey and on arrival you will board a simply furnished private houseboat for a journey through the lush backwaters. Enjoy the boat ride thought enchanting palm-fringed backwaters, local villages and fascinating scenes of everyday rural life. Later in the evening watch a beautiful sunset over the backwaters and enjoy tasty meals (starting with lunch) prepared by the on board chef using fresh local produce. After breakfast on day we disembark the houseboat at Kumarakom. Perched sleepily amongst a tangle of lush tropical waterways known as the Keralan backwaters, Kumarakom is technically a cluster of islands on Lake Vembanad - one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes. This is an ideal place to relax for the next two days and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There is also a wonderful bird sanctuary spread across 14 acres, which is a favored haunt of migratory birds and certainly worthy of a visit. Overnight at Kumarakom (Breakfast)
